Most of my websites use WordPress, and you may or may not know it, but WordPress isn’t just for blogs.
You can easily modify it to be just as good, if not better than Joomla!
Most of my websites used to use Joomla, but I’ve sinced moved on from that due to multiple reasons.
First thing is first though, you need content for pages, and a better theme, look for a theme, or design one yourself, that looks the part, such as a company theme, or a portfolio theme, whichever.
A good thing to note though, is if your new WordPress CMS site is going to have a blog, have it in the same install, just dedicate a category called “Blog” and add it to the navigation bar and it will be simple and easy.
Now you need some good addons:
CForms II - Makes forms easy.
Search Everything – (Since most of the sites we develop focus more on their static content than on their blog posts, this plugin is essential for allowing users to search your entire site without leaving your site and relying on Google)
Google Sitemap Generator – Self explanitory.
TinyMCE Advanced – Better than the standard WordPress WYSIWYG editor.
PageMash – This plugin makes it very easy to put your pages in order, without having to edit every page individually.
To install these addons, do a Google, or go to the “add new” section under Plugins on your WordPress installation and do it from there.
The rest, is up to you.
