The Next Three Days

I like Russell Crowe.

In this movie, his wife is framed for murder. Basically more bad luck than anything. And it’s up to him to bring justice – break her out and escape to another country.

Not a movie to watch laying down. Edge of your seat, action suspense thriller.

Lara Brennan (Elizabeth Banks) it arrested for murdering her female boss. With whom she had an argument at a dinner thing. When she was leaving – which is the scene of a crime she was seen. There’s also her fingerprints on the murder weapon. Her husband – John Banks would spent the next three days devising a plan in order to get her out. He has a son – Luke played by Ty Simpkins who happens to be quite a good young actor. Unfortunately the strain of a distanced mother gets to him. So he doesn’t play a major role really.

Naturally – there’s no evidence to prove she didn’t do it. He’s a bit of a thug in this movie – using bumper keys. Also going to a meth lab and setting fire to the place while escaping with a fuck-tonne of money in order to get the fuck outta the country. He gets help from Liam Neeson who tells him how to do it.

The plot takes a bit too long to get set up, so it’s not fast paced. But it still is edge of your seat. I don’t like spoilers so that’s all there is to it.

I give it an 8/10. It’s pretty fucking good.

The Adjustment Bureau

I also got to see this one at home. I like Matt Damon, he’s a pretty good actor.

This movie is quite different. People wearing Fedoras can travel through doors to end up somewhere completely different in a matter of time.
Matt Damon plays a politician, David Norris, and he has a glimpse into the future. His fate was planned for him, yet he wants something different. And to get it, he has to beat this bureau and pursue them under the streets and through a bunch of doors in New York.

He loves a chicken named  Elise Sellas played by Emily Blunt, who seems a little aloof. She’s not like anyone he’s met. And naturally and predictably he falls for her. But the Bureau is having none of it. He’s up against these Fedora wearing villains in order to get the woman of his dreams. He must either let her go – making the Bureau happy. Or fight them, and take a Fedora and do it himself.

It’s an interesting premise, but it falls a little short. It’s a bit of a clichéd love story.

I give it a 7 and 1/4 out of 10.

Unknown Movie Review

Seeing as I watched this at home (thanks Warner Bro’s for sending me the DVD), I had plenty of time to watch it, as well as could pause the movie to write down tid-bits.

I’ve watched a lot of Liam Neeson movies lately. Some were pretty shit. Some were decent. But this one is where he shines. He’s one of the actors that are pretty genuine. I was convinced he was actually who he said he was.

This movie has a hint of perhaps the Bourne series. Liam (playing Dr. Martin Harris) loses his memory in Berlin, when his taxi crashes then falls over a bridge into water. The taxi driver who happens to be an illegal immigrant saves him (he was unconscious) then re-appears some-time into the movie. He’s lost an integral part of his memory – the past. He’s convinced he’s Dr. Martin Harris. But unfortunately doesn’t have his briefcase. It was left at the airport.

The dialogue in this movie isn’t great. But it’s a good action-drama movie. With suspense. But not too much, which is what I like.
Action was great when it happened. But it wasn’t senseless, he had a reason (much like Taken) to hit people, kill people and so on.

It’s a decent movie, the camera work isn’t spectacular – but not so shit as Ladder 49 or something. He loses his memory, wife disowns him. Big twist at the end. Then they live happily ever after.

t’s not worthy of a 10/10 though. So I give it a 7/10. IMDB on this one is all right.

Parke’s Final

I might be a little late to this, but I’ve got more stuff to do than just blog about Ronan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXVKNmZJfB0
Once again, embedding disabled.

I’m going to post some excerpts of news that has made this little boys life a little scandalous.
But before I do so, I’d like to commend The Daily Mail (Dailymail.co.uk) on their excellent use of having sounds played whilst trying to read the fucking news.

First up: Ronan Parke says he was upset by lies posted by an anonymous blogger that claimed Britain’s Got Talent had been fixed so he would win

Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘I was really upset by those nasty words written by an anonymous person because it was all a load of rubbish.
‘It was a horrible thing for someone to do, attack me like that. I hope some people didn’t stop voting for me because of it.
‘I hate bullying – it’s a terrible thing to do and I hope that people will see that it’s wrong now.’

Secondly: The next Bieber? Simon Cowell apparently thinks that Ronan Parke will be Britain’s version of Justin Bieber

He narrowly lost out on the Britain’s Got Talent crown following claims online that the competition had been fixed in his favour.
But despite coming second to surprise winner Jai McDowall, it looks like Ronan Parke will be first to the coveted prize of a record deal.
Sources at Sony Music said they are still keen to offer the 12-year-old a recording contract estimated to be worth between £1million and £1.5million in the hope that he will become the ‘British Justin Bieber’.

He’s not the next Bieber guys… Justin Bieber does not sing what Ronan Parke sings. I also think that Parke actually has raw talent, and when live on stage, they can’t actually AutoTune.
Either way, they’re two very different people.

Now, word is that he might be gay… My opinion? I’m not too sure, he is a little camp. He likes fashion, and has pride in his appearance. It’s pretty obvious.
If he is? So what? I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all. Anyway, teenagers have enough troubles trying to find out what they are so I think you’ll have to wait for him to come out of the closet, rather than labelling him. Like some news reports have.

RED Review

Star studded cast, lots and lots of action.

Bruce Willis stars in an action packed comedy thriller thing.
He’s a retired CIA agent, and he gets threatened by some high tech assassins who try to kill him when he gets his Christmas on. The rest is followed by some awesome Malkovich and Morgan Freeman.

It’s honestly not a bad movie, it’s not got much of a story, but it really is quite good.

8/10 if I’d rate it. I wont go into detail, I’m bad at movie reviews.

The Witcher 2 Review

Okedoke guys, a review for ya.

The Witcher 2 – the sequel to one of the best RPG’s in my books. Based on the books done by Andrej Whoop Whoop Bang Bang. The Last Wish, The Blood Of Elves etc etc.

Overall – the story is non-linear, as they advertised. Stunning world. Combat system is basically the same, but I like it more this time around. The game isn’t all about the combat after-all.

Chapter 1 and 2. Excellent. I loved the areas. The characters. The sexing. The killing.
Chapter 3 – a little too short. You kinda get placed right there, and then the end happens. I sometimes found it hard  to navigate around.
Epilogue – OMG THE END NOOOO.

I want more.

But overall, the minigames (save for dice) are excellent. The sexing of womens is also good. I like the story. The way the choices actually do impact (lol DA2). And the way that CDPR actually LISTENED to their player-base (insane difficulty).

Sure, there’s a rough launch. But the patch was released, and they are trying hard to appease us gamers. They practically gave all DLC to everyone for free.

Anyway, without spoilers – which is what I do. Brutally honest review. Me actually playing the game, not getting paid for these reviews. I give this a 9/10. The last chapter is a little rushed.

Happy? Yeh. Angry? No. Good? Yes.

The Witcher II: Assassins Of Kings

I’m currently playing this game.
I’d like to comment on one particular issue:
It had one bit censored for Australians, however I got mine off of Amazon, with courier delivery. In Australia on the 2nd day, at my doorstep the 3rd day. DHL worldwide. CouriersPlease locally (also owned by DHL).
But low and behold – some smart cookie has released a de-censorship patch. Go Google for it. It’s a win-win really.

I got the collectors edition. I must admit the quality of the contents is amazing. It would have to be THE BEST collectors edition game I have ever bought. You get 3 stickers, a letter, a gold oren, 2 DLC packs, bonus DVD, game guide, artbook, marble mock bust of Geralt, maybe some other shit that I’ve missed. But by far, it is really awesome.

The graphics are orgasmic. The voice acting is better, and I must give this an A+ for improvement. The story is the same quality stuff. The combat has had some overhauls – and I must admit, I like it.
The game is a challenge, however it has varying difficulty levels. I tried on hard for some of the game, and it is quite a challenge. I’m not going to touch the hardest level – where you die and have to start over.

But seriously CD Project RED are one hell of a developer. They truly listened to their community, and despite some major issues (such as the game not installing off of DVD) they seem to be doing quite well.

I’m only up to chapter 1, but I already want more Witcher games to come.

10/10 so far. Much better than Dragon Age 2 :)

Machete

WHAT. THE. FUCK?

9/10

Anyway, on to another subject:
Watching the “Sharpe” series, just because I’m kinda playing Napoleon: Total War.
Yes, it’s a good show.
